"Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he."    Proverbs 29:18

The Mary Baker Eddy Institute, was chartered in 1988 as a non-profit Corporation by Helen M. Wright and her husband William C. Wright.  In 2005, the name of the Institute was changed to the Mary Baker Eddy Science Institute, hereinafter referred to as the "Institute".  The Institute is an independent non-sectarian Institution, not affiliated with any church or denomination or religious organization.

Mary Baker Eddy's life's study and divine inspiration enabled her to both discover and found Christian Science.  This is the Science of the Christ, hereinafter referred to as "Science", the very same Truth which Jesus used in overcoming sin, sickness, death, and finally ascending.  He used this same Truth to prove the nothingness of matter and the allness of God, good, which is the primary Cornerstone of Christian Science.

Christ Jesus showed humanity "The Way" but did not leave humanity any system to follow in order to follow his path.  This is the void that Mrs., Eddy provided to the world --- the "System", hereinafter referred to as  "System" and "Science".  She refers to the "Science" and the "System" numerous times in her writings.

The Institute seeks to promote the pure Science and System by making resources available for FREE to "honest seekers of Truth".

Helen M. Wright, co-founder of the Institute, was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. When a young girl, both her mother and father were healed of serious illnesses through Christian Science, and as a result, Mrs. Wright became a life-long student of Christian Science and devoted her life to its study.  As a part of this study, she came to realize the significance of Mary Baker Eddy's dynamic impact on the world and wrote many publications and books about Mrs., Eddy, the Science, and the System.

Mrs. Eddy stated: "Spiritual teaching must always be by symbols.”  The leaders of ancient times conveyed their ideas through art, symbols and music.  Mrs. Eddy, in one of her advanced works, Christ and Christmas, conveyed spiritual teaching by both symbols and art.  Seven of her poems were lyrics for hymns.

Of course, spiritual inspiration is needed for a leader to convey the ideas revealed to them.  The student needs, desperately needs, to begin to approach the understanding of these ideas with an open heart and spiritual inspiration.  Otherwise, an inadequate or completely fallacious interpretation results, whether materialistic or pure scholarly, and misses the message of Truth.

John Doorly of London, England, was divinely inspired.  This inspiration permeates his many writings.  He is the first known student of Christian Science who studied and published writings on the "Science" and the "System".  He began to realize the enormous depth of the System which Mrs. Eddy presented to the world.  Beginning in the early 1900's and for 50 years, Mr. Doorly devoted his life's work to the development of his understanding of the System and he, along with inspired students which he taught, continued to research in order to understand and clarify to humanity, the System of the Science.  Mr. Doorly and his group of students worked individually, in groups, through seminars, and wrote many publications.  Many of these valuable resources are made available through the Institute, and in some cases the Institute is the only place making these resources available to the public.  Although we appreciate donations, we make the publications available for free.

In Mrs. Wright's many publications and books, she focused intently on the "Science" and the "System".  She vividly honors Mary Baker Eddy and Mary Baker Eddy's monumental contribution to the world.  Helen Wright continuously pointed to Mrs. Eddy "in her true light" including "her special place in spiritual history".  The Institute continues with this motive.

Helen Wright, together with others, notably Mrs. Peggy M. Brook, Mr. John L. Morgan, Mr. Lawrence L. Sinton, and Mr. W. Gordon Brown, all from England continued to research and publish and teach the "Science" and the "System" for several more decades after John Doorly left in visible form.

Due to the infinite nature of the Science of the Christ, there is no end to the development of its understanding.  Because of this, the Institute continues to add newly discovered resources to this website for the "honest seeker of Truth".
